 UST BSc(CHEM)

So, today is the interview for UST chemistry.

This programme, together with HKU BBA(A&F) are my new band A programmes.

Okay, back to the morning.

When I has arrived the classroom, the reporting room,

there were around twenty people sitting there.

Actually I expected that there will be only a small group of interviewees today,

so I was not so surprised indeed.

Remember, the reporting room is only a classroom, not a lecture theatre.

There were four groups of interviewees today, each group consisted of five people.

I was in the first group, together with a boy and three girls.

The interview had two sections, interview with department panelists,

and a written test about chemistry.

Our group started with interview first.

The atmosphere was good, and I performed well besides one question.

I just suddenly spoke non-fluently, but other questions were fine.

I introduced myself as Leo (actually I haven’t decided my new English name),

and I haven’t said anything about my view on studying chemistry in introduction.

This is very different from other interviewees.

They all told the interviewers their points of view during the introduction time.

But I just want to introduce myself, who am I and what have I done.

Compared to the interview carried by HKU,

I think that interviews carried by UST are more professional, or just more serious.

(I have attended three interviews: UST Acct, HKU A&F and UST Chem.)

And after the interview, we were back to the reporting room,

and began the second part – written test.

It was a “250 words or more” essay.

Actually I have already thought that it will be a piece of writing, so nothing special.

The topic is about how chemists can do for the outbreak of infectious swine flu.

Quite easy to answer, but we have got 25 minutes only.

Thus finally, I just simply wrote three points and ended up.

After the written test, I back to Ma On Shan and had my lunch at “Take a Seat”.

I love this place indeed; nice environment, nice food and beverage.

You all may just simply go there one day and try their food.

For further details, go to Open Rice and check it out by yourself.

 UST BBA(Acct) reply

I’ve just received an email from the business school of HKUST.

Here is a short quotation of it:

“Thank you very much for attending the JUPAS interview conducted by the

HKUST Business School last month. We are glad to inform you that your

interview performance has earned you extra bonus points to your admission

scores to the following HKUST Business School program(s):

5713 BBA in Professional Accounting”

I don’t know whether every attendee has received this or not, (Pammy W. got it)

but I’m happy to hear this piece of nice reply.

Have you attended any interview offered by the UST business school?

If yes, tell me if you have received similar reply email or not.

Let’s share this great moment!

Think deeply.

After the graduation dinner, life becomes hea again.

Some people may jealous us since we are in vacation, and they are in examination,

but they should understand how annoyed we are, actually.

AL exam is a milestone for me.

I am going to university, and I hope that there is no Plan B, no U-turn.

The journey of life doesn’t have many decades; it’s true.

I really don’t want to waste my time on stepping up from high school to university.

Counting the days, it’s not difficult to discover that we don’t have much time left.

Indeed, we have not even two weeks.

I do think that AL exam is the most important exam in my life.

It’s not only an exam, but also a gate towards future.

In this society, bright future is always deserved to the degree-holders.

They may not be the smartest, but they are the luckiest.

They are so lucky to pass the exam, and pass the gate.

Years ago, when we were still young,

“university student” is a label to indicate those people who are hard and smart.

These days, although the meaning varies, its importance unchanged.

When CE-ers dreaming to be us, we, the AL-ers dream to be them.

Seven years have finally gone, and we don’t know what comes next.

Good offer? Bad offer? or No offer?

We can do nothing but sit here and wait.

Yesterday, my cousin took a flight back to US and I saw him off at the airport.

This reminds me that I have never left China, I am always bounded here.

I do hope that one day I will leave here, and stand on a land outside China.

I’m not rich; I’m not living well; I cannot change anything; but so?

Try to make yourself happy and you will be happy then.

Do you know why those poor parents work so hard?

It’s because they don’t want their children to live like them.

If you are from a poor family, then I congratulate you,

because you are the one who know what this world looks like.

But at the same time, I feel upset for you,

because you don’t have the chance to enjoy this world.

Then you may say, “I don’t want to know, but to enjoy.”

Hah! Everyone has their own role in this society, and it’s hard to change.

We call this “fate”.

People always appreciate and admire the rich, but never the poor.

But I do, because I understand them.

I understand those who know the fact of the world and wish to enjoy.

Or, to create a better circumstances to let their children enjoy.

In Chemistry, we have “like dissolves like”.

And in reality, we have “like understands like”.

Vacation is a perfect time to think, with whatever topics.

PS

Sometimes I just simply want to be an anonymous,

but those sign-in locks or friend-locks annoy me.

“Come to my XANGA;

Listen to LENKA.”

It’s difficult to decide playing which song from the album “Lenka”,

as the whole album is great.

So, the final decision is – to play the whole album.

This is the first time for me to do so,

and I hope that all of you love the songs I picked for you.

If you want to listen to the songs, just go to my xanga homepage:

http://luffystar.xanga.com/

The module on the right-hand-side will show you the album art,

the album details and there will be a cute music player.

Just enjoy the show.

 BBA(A&F) interview

OK, interview again.

This time the interview is for the Accounting and Finance program offered by HKU.

To describe this interview, I will use one word, three characters – HEA.

It’s really out of expectation indeed,

especially when I’ve attended the interview of UST BBA(Acc) program some days ago.

First of all, everyone had to register at a lecture theatre.

Then we were guided to an interview room, and started the hour-long journey.

There were totally 10 interviewees in the room, together with a professor.

Samuel C. was not in my group, although he was also an attendant today.

So we started the interview with a short self-introduction.

Originally I did prepared a short piece of self-introduction.

However, the professor told us that what should be included in the speech,

like our names, schools, AL subjects…etc.

That means we had to tell him the answers of these questions,

just like filling forms actually.

Then professor gave us some topics to discuss; no, not discussion indeed, why?

It’s because when one had finished, the next one started, and everything repeats.

No interactions in it actually.

The atmosphere didn’t like a discussion as everyone could only speak once.

Unfortunately, I was one of the very first interviewees throughout the group,

so I couldn’t listen to others’ answers and say “in addition” or “moreover”.

But it’s okay, because I know that this interview counts nearly nothing.

And I am not nervous at that moment, maybe related to the previous experience.

So just let it be.

Few days ago, UST Chem department invited me to a group interview on 24/6.

I haven’t decided yet, but I think I will go, to show my sincerity.

For those who are going to have interviews, RELAX!

Nearly everyone in my group looked nervous during the interview today.

This is actually showing your weakness to others.

Just tell yourself that the interview wouldn’t cost so much and so don’t be afraid of it.

Interview is just a chance for you to communicate with others.

I really can’t understand why people can’t just pretend to be outstanding for an hour.

Interview is a stage for you to pretend to be good, great, excellent; like oral exams.

That is, to “make” or “produce” a good image in interviewers’ minds, and that’s it.

All from the above are only my personal viewpoints,

and you all are not necessary to agree with.
